Tip 2: Formal or Informal?

Wow, it's been a while. Apologies. :3 Anyways, here's another tip for ya!

Informal and formal attire has always been confusing for me, and they are very important in your D ratings and maybe even into C1. The examiner expects you to explain informal and formal attire and for the C1 I believe that you have to either dress in formal or informal. They are also mandatory for rallies and you will need to know about it for quiz. Now, formal and informal attire actually comes from fox hunting, where they had a formal season and an informal season (called cub hunting). If you really want to know more about fox hunting, you can go on the 'Disciplines' page and click on the fox hunting links, they are real helpful.

Formal attire: Formal attire is worn during the formal season in fox hunting. These are very strict, if you wear something informal in formal season you may be asked to not participate. D: Now, here is a basic formal attire list:

- Black tall boots
- Solid black (or red) coats
- Canary, white, or buff colored breeches
- White shirt (dress shirt) with white stock tie and stock pin
- Black protective helmet, or sometimes even black top hats

That is a very basic list, you have to consider also the ranks of members and such. But that is enough for your rating. Now for the informal attire:

- Navy, black, or any dark color coat color (it can have pinstripes)
- Buff, white, or canary colored breeches
- Stock tie
- Black or brown boots
- Protective headgear
- Ratcatcher shirt with stock pin (optional I think)

Of course that is also a very basic list of informal (cubbing) attire, there are many more things in a real fox hunt. I hope this helps, and if you want more info you can click here.
